One of the projects dominating the studio currently is the design for a new 700-page college textbook on environmental science for W.H. Freeman. Wishing to tap our DK/Eyewitness experience, the publisher is looking for a visually stimulating, approachable design that keeps students engaged with academically rigorous material. If the communications shuttling back and forth between our offices are any indication, this seems to be working. As the project’s development editor recently noted to the author, “I can’t tell you how pleased I am with Tom’s work. It’s probably one of the most beautiful textbook designs I have seen.”
